The temperate climate of the mountains and highlands of Peru makes it the perfect region for growing high quality arabica coffees. Almost all of the coffee produced in the region is organically farmed and shade grown over 1,200m.
Growing coffee in some of the most remote areas in Peru is not without its challenges though. Poor access roads and dense jungle vegetation are very common. The Cooperatives that have formed in the area, like CoAgra, have improved the infrastructure, and introduced more modern farming techniques yielding some of the finest coffees available today.
